Deconstruction a of Double Page Spread Liam Gallagher

Layout
·         Are columns used?
·         How many? Why?
·         How are the images organised? Why?
·         How are headlines and sub-headlines placed? Used? Why?
·         Any straplines used? Why?
·         Any layering? Effect? Why?
·         What part does colour play in organising the page? How?
·         Connotations of any/ all of the above??
I am using a a double page spread from NME magazine and the article is about Liam Gallagher. There are columns used, there are four columns used because the title is so big there is less room height wise so they have to squeeze it in landscape wise. The images are organised to the left hand side whereas the writing is on the right hnd size. The reason for this is because people read from the left to the right so when people go onto the double page spread they will read  this first, see his face and realise that the article will be on him. They are placed on the right hand side and this is because and obvisuly the titl is placed above. There are two straplines used. One is a quote saying “We’ve booted the door off te hinged and steamed right in there, into this other world” they are used to indugle the audiacne into what Liam is like. The imagine of Liam is in black and white and this connotes his type of music and this woud attract the target audience.
Images
·         Photographs? Why?
·         Illustrations? Why?
·         Mixture of both? Why?
·         Images of males? Females? Both? Why?
·         Images of objects? What? Why?
·         Images of celebrities? Why?
·         Image or text led? Why?
·         Captions? Why are they used?
·         Whose POV does the article assume?
There is a photogragh of Liam Gallagher and he is here because the article is about him. Eventhough the article is abou Beady Eye, there is only a photo of Laim, suggesting that nobody cares about the rest of the band. There are  no illustrations and the reason is there is no need for any. There is only one imagine and that is of a male, maybe there is a female in the band but they are not important enough to get on this ouble page spread. Noel Gallagher is a celebrity and the reason e is on is because he has such a huge fan club and is garanteed to sell copies. I woud say that is is not either text or imagine led and is fifty fifty. The caption for the image is “Different gear: Liam’s gone experimental” and the reason for this is because  Liam is known for his individual dress sense and now he is dressed different, this shown be known for anyone that has not reaslised.
