The first inspiration I have chosen for my music magazine front cover is an issue of Mix MAg and the artists on this issue are Disclosure. The layout of this magazine why I choose to use this magazine as a my first inspiration. The masthead is placed right across the top of the page, yet not the very top as the tag line is there "The world's biggest dance music and clubbing magazine" I found this very effective as it is very appealing and engages the audience, therefore will allow readers to easily identify the magazine whilst it is on the shelf. However the main image is over lapping the masthead and on my front cover I will not do this, even though I think this looks professional, and they must feel like they do not need there whole name there as the magazine is big and known enough. It also signifies how popular the magazine must be. The main image was really why I choose this magazine as my first inspiration as I feel like this is most likely the biggest pulling point as people would buy this issue of the magazine just to read about Disclosure. The fact that the main image takes up to majority of the page tells something about how big the artist is and how much of a pulling point they are. In my magazine I will follow the conventions of the main image. The heading "Disclosure" which introduced the band and the font is in white which stands out from the rest of the font and also engages the audience. The sub heading "Bringing the heat this summer" which expands the headline and explains more in detail what the main article is about. The unique selling point in this issue of this magazine is the the free CD you gain when buying this issue. My magazines unique selling point would be exclusive interviews with bands and artists and I would give away free posters.
