This double page spread is from Top of the pops and is about Selena Gomez. There are two columns used and this being my last deconstruction of a double page spread I have realised that a lot if not most have only two columns. They are used to inform the reader about the artist. The image of Selena is on the right hand side of the double page spread but is spread out widely across the rest of the two pages. The reason for this is the article is about her so she has been presented as if she wants to be all over the page. The headline “How to get my life!” is placed in the middle of the left hand page. The reason for this is that it is big enough for the reader to see and choose whether they want to read it or not. The sub heading is placed not normally above the heading but it is on the double page spread. Maybe they have done this because the sub heading is what holds more information and is what readers will find more entertaining. They strapline could also be the headline with this spread. The colour are really feminine colours, pink and white, the target audience would appeal to this because they are those types of colours. Not stereotypical male gender colours like blue and green.
Images
·         Photographs? Why?
·         Illustrations? Why?
·         Mixture of both? Why?
·         Images of males? Females? Both? Why?
·         Images of objects? What? Why?
·         Images of celebrities? Why?
·         Image or text led? Why?
·         Captions? Why are they used?
·         Whose POV does the article assume?
There are two photographs, there is a big one of herself spread across the double page spread, and another in the “Fantastic Friendship” box, and correctly she is with her friends, the reason this is here is because the article is about how great her life is at that moment. And to express that thought they have put a photo of her and another of her and her friend.  There are no drawings on this spread, maybe because it’s all about how her life is brilliant, and drawings would be irrelevant. There are only images of females, which is surprising as you would think they would put a photo of her and Justin Bieber so emphasise that she is with him and fans should be even more envies of her life. They might have done this because it is all about her and nobody else. Trying to get that point across. The spread is image led and this is because the target audience is young girls and they will not want loads of text. They prefer to look at pictures. The point of view comes from Selena Gomez, so the reader can feel like they can connect with the star.
